Virtual Drive Old Fall River Road
|
Take a drive back in history. Begun in 1913, before Rocky Mountain National Park was even established, Old Fall River Road is still very
much like it was when it was completed in 1920, with one crucial difference - it's now one way. This nine mile gravel drive begins at
the Endovalley Picnic Area, travelling beside Fall River and later along the shoulder of Mount Chapin before emerging at the back of the
Alpine Visitors Center on Trail Ridge Road. In the process, it goes from a montane ecosystem through a subalpine one and then onto
the alpine tundra. Be sure to allow plenty of time for a leisurely exploration along the way, as there is much to see.
