| Portions of the old Ute Trail across the Continental Divide and the remains of part of Old Fall River Road that is no longer open to automobile traffic can easily be seen from spots on Trail Ridge Road. The trail's route offers a chance to experience the tundra in a way that simply is not possible from the roadside. However, as you hike, remember that this is a very fragile ecosystem. Damage to tundra can take a hundred years to repair. Please stay on the path as much as possible and tread lightly if it is necessary to leave it. |

| Just because you can see parts of the trail from the road does not mean the views along it are the same as those you can see from the highway. In fact, it gives you a much different perspective of the alpine world. This hike is also one of the easiest ways to cross the Continental Divide on foot. |
